The Fund Raising Event is finally over !
At 6pm Saturday 13th the darts marathon began at the Royal Scot, Morton. Each match was tackled with good humour and high spirits, even during the wee hours of the morning. We had a good few laughs and managed some decent scores considering the majority of us haven’t played for years (saying that there are a good few more holes in the wall and floor now!!) Despite some dramas in the early morning, which Jackie dealt with brilliantly, the night passed peacefully with most of us managing an hour or two’s sleep, apart from Andy, who only managed an hour of sleep in 41 hours! Thats some stint with no sleep!
At 11am Sunday 14th Ken White and Michael Downey left Newcastle train station to cycle 67 miles to the Royal Scot. At 6.45pm they arrived for a well-earned rest (and a good few pints!). They tackled gruelling hills and inconsiderate drivers to raise money for Cityvibe FM and we are all incredibly proud of their achievement. Ken has said he would rather ski the equivalent of Everest twice than cycle it again so I don’t think we’ll be seeing a repeat performance!
Thanks go to the darts players – Alex, Amy, Andy, Elaine, John, Ellen, Jackie, John Hastings, JP, Ken, Ray, Russell, Sue, and Vince.
We would like to thank Jackie at the Royal Scot, Morton, Carlisle for her invaluable contribution, she was truly brilliant.
